‘I almost cried’ — Manchester City’s Rodri gives fitness update after Club World Cup injury
Manchester City’s Rodri has given an update on his fitness after causing concern among Cityzens fans when he went down injured against Fluminense in the Club World Cup final.
Manchester City worry over Rodri’s injury
The Cityzens won their first-ever Club World Cup trophy after defeating Fluminense 4-0, with goals from Julian Alvarez, who scored twice, Phil Foden, and an own goal from Nino.
Rodri was voted the Golden Ball winner as the best player in the tournament to add to his UEFA Champions League final Man of the Match award.
However, there was a moment of worry during the match as the Spanish midfielder collapsed to the ground in pain, clutching his knee, and was forced to come off for Manuel Akanji.
Rodri gives important injury update
Following the match against Fluminense, Rodri has given an update on his condition, allaying fears that he might be out for an extended period.

According to Sky Sports, Rodri was keen to alleviate concerns, saying, “I almost cried after the tackle, but I’m fine. I will be fine to play vs Everton, no issues.”

Rodri has been irreplaceable for Manchester City, with the reigning European champions struggling in his absence, while they are unbeaten in the last 47 matches that the Spaniard has played in.
