Homecoming: Super Eagles stars Iwobi and Bassey lose influential teammate to South American giants
Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey’s Fulham have bid farewell to a key dressing room figure, as their influential teammate Andreas Pereira has completed a stunning move back to his homeland, joining Brazilian giants Palmeiras.
Premier League club Fulham confirmed the departure of their star midfielder, announcing that Andreas Pereira has joined Palmeiras for an undisclosed fee.
The move marks a homecoming for the Brazilian international and former Manchester United player, who spent three impactful years at Craven Cottage.
Since arriving in southwest London, Pereira made a significant mark on the squad, featuring in 119 games and helping Fulham secure consistent mid-table finishes each season.
Beyond his club contributions, he also made history by becoming the first Fulham player to receive a call-up to the Brazil national team, earning 10 caps during his tenure.
Joining Fulham in the summer of 2022, Andreas quickly became a ‘consummate professional and a vital member of the team,’ as stated by the club.

His presence played a key role in memorable moments for the club, including helping the team achieve a record Premier League points total last season.
Fulham extended their best wishes to Pereira as he returns to Brazilian football, with everyone at the club acknowledging his efforts and dedication over the past few years.
“Thank you, Andreas! Come on, Fulham!” the club expressed in a heartfelt message.
For Iwobi, Bassey, and their Fulham teammates, losing such an influential teammate is a significant adjustment ahead of the new season, but the Fulham squad will be keen to build on the foundations Pereira helped lay during his time at the club.
