‘He’s not going anywhere’ — Girlfriend of Super Eagles star drops transfer bombshell

Super Eagles of Nigeria defender Bruno Onyemaechi is arguably one of the most underrated defenders in the national team.

The Boavista star continued to impress at his Portuguese club so far this season, making 24 appearances and helping his side to a 15th place finish in the Liga Portugal.

Amid fears over a potential transfer this summer, Onyemaechi’s partner, Ines Fontes, has now clarified.

In a Q&A session hosted on her Instagram stories, the blonde influencer responded to a question from a curious fan over the future of the Super Eagles defender.

The fan asked as translated from Portuguese: “Does Bruno [Onyemaechi] think about leaving Boavista??,” to which she responded, “With me by his side, that question doesn't even arise, he's very happy.”

Bruno Onyemaechi and Ines Fontes have been together for over a year.

Recently, the couple have been flaunting their relationship on social media, with the Portuguese influencer recently sharing bikini snaps from their summer break.

Onyemaechi joined Boavista on a season-long loan with an option to buy, after going on trial at Lillestrøm.

In June 2023, Boavista triggered the option and signed him on a permanent deal.

In September that same year, the 25-year-old left back made his international debut for the Super Eagles, playing as a left-back for the full 90 minutes of a 6–0 victory over São Tomé and Príncipe, in the final group match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Onyemaechi wa also part of the that team reached the finals of the 2023 AFCON, where Nigeria lost 1-2 to the hosts Ivory Coast.
