He'd play for us next season - Stuttgart boss says star player is not moving to Bayern Munich
VfB Stuttgart have played down growing speculation linking their star striker, Nick Woltemade, with a high-profile summer move to Bayern Munich, describing the reports as typical of the transfer "silly season".
The 23-year-old forward, who was instrumental in Stuttgart’s impressive campaign last season, including their DFB-Pokal triumph, has been heavily linked with a switch to the Allianz Arena.
Reports claim Bayern have already agreed personal terms with the striker, but Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth says there is no cause for concern.
What Wohlgemuth
Speaking to Sky Sport Germany, Wohlgemuth was quick to shut down the transfer buzz, insisting that Woltemade remains a key part of Stuttgart’s project heading into the 2025/26 season.
“Few things are bigger than the silly season. A lot has been written and a lot has been said, but that doesn't change the facts… we made a long-term agreement with Nick almost a year and a half ago, and we assume that he will play football for us next season,” he said.
Woltemade, who signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2028, has emerged as one of the most promising young attackers in Germany.
His form has naturally drawn attention from Bayern Munich, with club legend and honorary president Uli Hoeness even publicly expressing admiration and a desire to bring him to Bavaria.
However, Stuttgart are standing firm. Wohlgemuth scoffed at media reports quoting a €100 million valuation, stating that such figures are “far from reality.”
Even the supposed €70 million asking price, which Bayern reportedly view as too steep, has been downplayed by the club.
“These sums are merely rumoured by the public and basically have nothing to do with reality,” Wohlgemuth added.
With Stuttgart returning to European competition via the Europa League next season, the club sees Woltemade as central to their ambitions.
