He suffered because of Cristiano Ronaldo — Ex-Man United boss Solskjaer opens up
Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer has said Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani suffered the most when Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club.
Ronaldo came back to Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer of 2021, joining a team already featuring Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood.
His return reportedly caused some tension in the Red Devils locker room and didn't go as planned for Solskjaer, who was sacked less than four months later.
Solskjaer says Cavani suffered because of Ronaldo
"Edinson Cavani was the one that suffered the most when Cristiano came in.
"We had played and got Edinson into a certain way of understanding the way we played.
"Cristiano – when you know him and speak to him, he wanted to play three out of four games, he realised he’s getting older as well.
"But when you leave him out once, he’s not happy!"
