"He should have scored two more goals" - Mikel Arteta on Eberechi Eze's performance
On Wednesday, Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Port Vale in the third round of the English League Cup.
The encounter was special for several reasons: Bukayo Saka returned to action and Eberechi Eze scored his first goal for the club.
Arsenal took an early lead in the eighth minute through 27-year-old midfielder Eberechi Eze, before substitute Leandro Trossard sealed the Gunners' progression late in the game.
Arteta's comment on Eze
Mikel Arteta spoke to Sky Sports, via Sportal, after the match, "In a game like this, the biggest stake is the team's reputation – that's incredibly important for us.
"We tried to prevent our opponents from gaining momentum. There were times when we lost a bit of control, but some of our key players delivered the win for us.
He highlighted Eberechi Eze's goal, adding that he should have scored two more. "He's here to win games, to make an impact with his creativity and dangerous play.
"I think he should have scored two more goals. He's the type of player who needs to get on the ball often."
