'He leaves as a legend' - Slot confirms Salah’s Liverpool exit
Arne Slot has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, bringing an extraordinary chapter at Anfield to a close.
Salah is set to depart Anfield after years of remarkable service, recording his name among the club’s greatest-ever players.
Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has delivered phenomenal numbers, making 435 appearances, scoring 255 goals, and contributing 122 assists.
What Slot said
Slot was full of praise for the winger’s influence on the club’s modern success.
The Liverpool boss also reflected on Salah’s role in one of the Premier League’s most feared attacking trios alongside Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino.
He said, “He will always leave this club as a legend because the way this club has performed in recent seasons is largely due to what he’s done for it. Everybody is still talking about that front three, and rightly so.
Earlier in the campaign, reports suggested friction between Salah and Slot, with the Egyptian forward claiming he had been “thrown under the bus.”
However, the Dutch manager has now struck a reconciliatory tone, expressing hope that Salah can finish his Liverpool career on a high.
“Hopefully, he can make his legacy even more special in the upcoming weeks, where we still play for something special. When I started working with him, it was an impressive season because he had the most goals and the most assists," he added.
Slot summed it up, “He will definitely leave as a legend of this club.”
