He is the boss — Ikpeba warns assistant coach Amokachi to respect Finidi and avoid chaos
Super Eagles legend Victor Ikpeba has advised Daniel Amokachi to respect new Super Eagles head coach Finidi George.
As Pulse Sports reported, the NFF has named Amokachi as the first assistant to Finidi. “The Bull,” along with two foreigners, will serve as assistants to the new Super Eagles head coach.
What Ikpeba said
The former Super Eagles striker, Victor Ikpeba, now a pundit on Monday Night Football, warned Amokachi to respect the chain of command to avoid chaos.
On the latest episode of Monday Night Football, as monitored by the Daily Post, Ikpeba expressed his concern. Amokachi was teammates with Finidi in the Super Eagles during their playing days, and Ikpeba suggested that could cause the former Everton striker to break ranks.
He hinted at a similar scenario that happened in the past and must be avoided at all costs: “chaos that happened within the coaching crew three years ago.” The fallout happened between Emmanuel Amuneke and Austine Eguavoen.
Ikpeba suggested that appointing Amuneke as the assistant to another ex-international, Eguavoen, led to chaos and warned that if Amokachi did not respect Finidi's status as the boss, disharmony could ensue.
Meanwhile, Nigeria national football team's new coach Finidi George has sent a clear message to Super Eagles players stating that Nigeria will always come first.
