Keylor Navas picks Ronaldo over Messi
Speaking to Mexican television channel TUDN, the 38-year-old goalkeeper explained his personal rationale for making his choice.
“It is hard. “But if I had to choose, I think that, more than anything, because of the moment in which I lived, that I was with them, I would choose Cristiano,” Navas said.
The long-running question of who wears the crown as the greatest footballer of all time remains open to debate, as public opinion is intensely split between Portugal legend Ronaldo and Argentine World Cup winner Messi.
Both players have amassed unparalleled success, individually and collectively, and have won a combined 13 Ballon d'Or awards. Messi is an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and has been decisive for Argentina on the international stage, winning two Copa América titles and the World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has cemented his legacy as the Champions League's all-time top scorer with 140 goals, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, and the first footballer to reach 900 official goals.
Both legends are now in the twilight of their football careers, but the argument is set to rage on, even after they retire.
