‘He is slightly better’ - Arsenal legend picks Isak over Osimhen despite calling him a ‘top-class player’
Galatasaray claimed a narrow 1-0 victory in the UEFA Champions League over Premier League giants Liverpool in Istanbul.
Osimhen reminded everyone of his quality on Tuesday, scoring the decisive goal for Galatasaray in their hard-fought against Liverpool.
The Nigerian international was linked with several Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window, including Liverpool.
However, the Reds ultimately prioritised the signing of Alexander Isak over the one-time African Footballer of the Year.
Robson speaks on Isak and Osimhen’s comparison
Speaking after the victory over Liverpool, Robson praised Osimhen's all-around game and questioned why the Super Eagles star is not already leading the line for one of Europe's biggest clubs.
"There are lots of big clubs that should have taken him but didn't take the chance," Robson said on ESPN FC.
"But what he showed tonight was a great awareness of where the space was. He kept pulling out down the side of Van Dijk... He was good with his back to goal and a constant threat."
"Yes, he scored a penalty, but he's a top-class player. He's got energy, he's got pace, he's got strength as well, and he's not bad in the air."
However, when comparing him directly to the Swedish striker, Robson argued that the former Newcastle man has a slight edge.
"So he (Osimhen) is a centre-forward that, if you look between Isak and him, I still would say Isak is slightly better, but he won’t be far off."
Osimhen has scored three goals in five games for Galatasaray this season as he continues from where he left off last season.
