Ruben Amorim has revealed that Marcus Rashford's continued absence from the team is due to the player's own decision.
Rashford was left out of the matchday squad for the third consecutive game, as United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
When asked about Rashford's absence, Amorim stated,
"No. It is his choice. I don't want to focus on this bad moment because in these games we lost, Rashford is not here."
"I don't want to put this moment on Rashford. Rashford is out of this moment because he is not playing."
Amorim also made it clear that he will only select players who he believes are good for the team, stating,
"No matter what, I am not going to put a player I don't believe is the best for the team."
United's defeat to Brighton has left them in 13th place in the Premier League standings, closer to the relegation zone than Champions League qualification.
Amorim has lost seven of his 15 games in charge since taking over in November, and the schedule does not get any easier.
Their next game is in midweek against Rangers before traveling to Craven Cottage for a tricky game against Fulham.
