‘He had ten offers’ - Dessers’ agent reveals reason why Rangers failed to sell Super Eagles star
Dessers was the subject of transfer speculations during the January transfer window and was linked away from the Scottish side.
The striker lost his starting position to Moroccan attacker Hamza Igamane due to a string of poor performances.
However, after scoring a goal against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League and a hat-trick in the Scottish Cup, Dessers showed his potential and resolve to regain his spot, marking a spectacular comeback.
Dessers' agent opens up on transfer
Francis claimed that clubs are unwilling to sign him permanently, which made it difficult for Rangers to sell him.
He explained in an interview with Sporza via voetbalnieuws, "There is still a lot of probing, but clubs are pushing much less. Look at Cyriel Dessers: he had ten offers, but the market is much more difficult at that time.
"Many wanted to rent him, but Rangers only wanted to sell. And that is not ideal for the player's focus.”
The likes of Cagliari, Empoli, and Leganes tried to sign the forward but were not ready to sign him on a permanent deal.
Dessers, who has eight goals and two assists in 22 league games this season, would like to keep up his impressive form to help Rangers win the league and compete in Europe.
