'He can assist and score goals' - Fulham coach showers praise on Nigeria's Alex Iwobi
Fulham manager Marco Silva has heaped praise on Alex Iwobi after his impressive performance in the 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Iwobi scored two goals for Fulham in the match which started with a significant error from Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen, who gifted the Cottagers an early lead.
Alex Iwobi found the net in the fourth minute after Verbruggen's attempt to play the ball out failed, allowing the Nigerian midfielder to easily tap it into an open net.
The 28-year-old completed his brace after receiving a pass from Antonee Robinson, spinning past a defender, and shooting into the far corner.
Iwobi is a fantastic player - Fulham coach
Reacting after the game, Marco Silva praised the Nigerian international, calling him a fantastic player.
“Alex has been outstanding from the first day of pre-season. He is in a happy place and he is a fantastic footballer,” Silva told the BBC.
The Portuguese manager added that Iwobi is a versatile player who can play from any position.
"Last season was his best season in the Premier League and one or two months ago I said he would be even better in this one. He is really versatile and I can use him in many different positions.
“He’s a top player with the way he can assist and score goals more than ever. What a game for him and he deserved all the credit," he concluded.
Fulham's victory over Brighton has helped the team to climb up on the Premier League table into the top six.
