The 18-year-old officially joined Celta Vigo Fortuna, the club’s reserve team, on a four-year contract in July 2025. Kenyan fans have expressed their excitement enthusiastically, flooding the club’s social media channels with messages of support.

Aldrine Kibet’s rapid rise began with a standout performance at the 2023 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games, where he captained St. Anthony’s Boys High School to a national title.

He noted that the club is delighted to have discovered a passionate following from his home country, and that the players and staff often ask him about the fans.

According to Aldrine Kibet, the team pays close attention to social media interactions, observing how consistently Kenyan supporters comment on posts, which they take as a sign of something promising on the horizon.

He added that the club finds this response energising and sees it as an encouraging indicator for both Kibet and the wider connection between Celta Vigo and Kenyan football enthusiasts.

“Everything is good, it’s a good team, as you know it. For them, they are excited because of the response coming from Kenya, and they are happy to have found a fanbase,” Aldrine Kibet told the media on Tuesday.

“It’s really exciting for them, they are very happy, and they usually ask me about Kenyans. They also tell me that when they make a post, Kenyans are always commenting, and they are happy about that because they know something good is coming.”

Aldrine Kibet now faces the significant challenge of adapting to the high-level European environment of the Spanish third tier, with the ultimate goal of breaking into the senior La Liga squad and also making a mark with Harambee Stars.
