Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga saw his goal drought extend to one month as his side Al Arabi dropped more points in the Qatar Stars League on Sunday.

Olunga started the clash against Al Rayyan at Al Thumama Stadium but the goals eluded him for a third straight match as both sides played out a 2-2 draw.

Al Rayyan broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Roger Guedes capitalised on goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail’s error to hit home the opener from a brilliant assist by Wesley Ribeiro.

Al Arabi, however, went from a goal down to a goal lead with Pablo Sarabia drawing them level in the 52nd minute before Alexis Perez extended it to 2-1 after 72 minutes. However, when it seemed they were cruising home with the maximum points, Mohammed Saleh hit home the leveler for Al Rayyan in stoppage time.

When Did Olunga Last Score?

That denied Al Arabi what would have been a first win in three games, having suffered back-to-back losses before Sunday’s match.

Olunga, who last scored on November 29 when they beat Al Khor 4-3 in an entertaining encounter, played all 90 minutes but was not able to find the target.

The Kenyan striker remains on six goals from nine league games and seven overall from 10 this term and will be hoping to get back on the scoring sheet in the new year.

With the result, Al Arabi, who ended the match with 10 men after Abdullah Marafee was sent off in the dying minutes of added time, now moved to sixth place with 17 points in the standings, while Al Rayyan are on 20 points.
