Former Harambee Stars Goalkeeper Secures Career Coaching Milestone in Europe
Former Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi has added another feather on his cap as he continues to transition into coaching.
Origi, who has already been coaching, is now certified to work as a goalkeeper trainer at the highest level in Europe after acquiring a UEFA Goalkeeper A License.
The 42-year-old expressed his delight at acquiring the qualification through the Swedish Football Association with a two-word statement on his Instagram story. “Milestone achieved,” he posted.
His certificate, valid until December 16, 2028 reads: “The holder of this UEFA Goalkeeper A License is authorized to coach in accordance with the UEFA Coaching Convention on the territory of The Swedish Football Association as well as within all other associations which have signed the UEFA Coaching Convention.”
What Can Origi Do With His Certificate?
The UEFA A License is the second highest coaching qualification in the world, only behind the UEFA Pro, although Origi’s certificate limits him to training goalkeepers only but at every level of professional football.
UEFA Goalkeeper A License allows its holders to lead goalkeeper development strategies at professional clubs, coach senior players at any level and also secure roles like Head Goalkeeper Coach or Head of Academy Goalkeeper Coaching.
Origi has already been working as goalkeeper trainer, having landed the role at Sweden's second-tier side Ostersunds FK, before briefly as Harambee Stars goalkeeping coach from December 2024 to March this year before the appointment of Benni McCarthy, who came with his own backroom staff.
