Guinea star left out of AFCON team after accusing coach of stealing his Vinicius Jr shirt
Guinea superstar Morlaye Sylla is set to miss the AFCON2023 party in Ivory Coast next month after he was left out of his country’s squad for the tournament.
Sylla has been punished for accusing his coach of stealing a shirt he got from Brazilian star Vinicius Jr.
Guinea star and shirt theft
Sylla reportedly got into an altercation with his national teammates and coach after Guinea’s 4-1 demolition from Brazil in an international friendly early this year.
Joeliton, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, and Vinicius were all on target for the Samba Boys while German-based Sehrou Guirassy netted the consolation for the Africans.
Following the heavy defeat, the 25-year-old and Real Madrid’s forward exchanged shirts as reported by Daily Mail.
The Portugal-based star was left aggrieved moments later as the shirt reportedly vanished in their dressing room.
He pointed fingers at his teammates having failed to find the swapped shirt before accusing his coach Kaba Diawara.
Sylla, who is yet to apologise for his comments, insisted on searching thoroughly which led to more friction between him and the team.
Diawara has now responded to the accusations by leaving out the midfielder from his squad for the 2023 AFCON.
Guinea will be without the talented midfielder, who has contributed five goals in 13 matches this season for his Portuguese side, Arouca.
