Two more victories — Guardiola can smell the title now as Arsenal drop points
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted for the first time that his team is close to winning the Premier League title.
Guardiola made the admission after watching his team go four points clear of Arsenal in the race for the title.
Manchester City produced another masterclass performance to see off Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
Guardiola says the title is close
German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was the star of the day after he was involved in all the goals against the Toffees.
Gundogan scored two of the goals and assisted Erling Haaland for the third to make it 11 consecutive victories in the Premier League for the Cityzens.
After the match, Guardiola praised his team for their brilliant performance and added that they need just two more victories now.
“It was a brilliant performance at the end of the season,” Guardiola said after the game.
“We need two more victories to be champions. Step by step recovery,” he added.
Gundogan explains form
In a related development, man of the match, Gundogan says the Cityzens are taking every game as a final.
Gundogan who netted a brace against the Toffees believes that the defending champions are threading a familiar ground.
"It's the end of the season so every game has been like a final,” Gundogan said moments after the game.
“We have a very experienced team and competing in the last few games of the season is not a new situation for us, and that helps us a lot. It'd about staying calm and trust in your abilities.”
