Gout Gout: Teen sensation debuts with fourth-fastest Australian 100m time in Brisbane

Sensational teen sprinter Gout Gout consistently lives up to the hype as Usain Bolt's successor after dropping another groundbreaking time of 10.04s (3.4) to win his 100m heat at the Australian All Schools Championships in Brisbane.

The 16-year-old ran smoothly in his lane as he stirred clear ahead of his peers before easing through the finish line. Despite the wind-assistance, the 10.04s is the fourth-fastest all-conditions time in Australian history and he's just scratching the surface of his career.

With the final set for a few hours after the heat, Gout will be gunning to break Sebastian Sultana’s U18 national record of 10.27s, and judging from his heat performance, he's surely taking it down.

Gout is also scheduled to run the 200m - his favourite event, where he will be aiming to smash his personal best of 20.29s (1.2) set in October, to breathtakingly take down Aidan Murphy’s 20.41s Australian U20 Record and become the fastest 200m sprinter from his country in 31 years.

With an eye on hitting the qualifying standard of 20.16s for next year's World Championships in Tokyo and surpassing Bolt’s best under-18 mark of 20.13s, breaking is also inevitable based on the form he showed in his 100m heat race.
