Going back to Africa — Frank Onyeka explains how he has improved as a player
Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has said that participating in the Africa Cup of Nations has positively impacted his level as a footballer.
Onyeka played a pivotal role for the Super Eagles, featuring in all seven games as Jose Peseiro's men lost in the final against host nation Ivory Coast.
The resilient midfielder showcased an impressive performance in Brentford's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night, displaying remarkable endurance and energy. Onyeka attributed his enhanced performance level to playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Onyeka believes AFCON has improved him
After the game, Onyeka said:
“Going back to Africa, helping my country Nigeria, coming back fit, it’s been really good. I feel really fit,” he told the club’s official website.
“It was hard, but it was also good, especially defending counter-attacks.
We came here believing we could do it again, so to lose 1-0 is sad, but it was a good performance.“
