The Turkish champions are keen to address inconsistencies up front while maintaining their push in both domestic and European competitions.

Galatasaray target Griezmann amid attacking concerns

According to Turkish outlet hurriyet.com.tr, Galatasaray have identified Antoine Griezmann as a potential solution to their attacking problems, particularly in matches where Victor Osimhen has been absent.

Despite leading the Turkish Super Lig, the Istanbul side have struggled for fluency and cutting edge when the Nigerian striker is unavailable, exposing a lack of depth in key attacking areas.

Mauro Icardi’s situation has further complicated matters. The Argentine forward has failed to regain top form following a prolonged injury layoff and is expected to depart at the end of the season when his contract expires.

As a result, Galatasaray’s recruitment focus has shifted toward experienced forwards capable of delivering immediately at the highest level.

Griezmann, a 2018 World Cup winner with France, fits that profile. Although under contract with Atletico Madrid until June 2027, the 34-year-old has struggled for regular starts this season, starting just nine of his 24 appearances across all competitions, still managing to register eight goals and one assist.

World Cup winner could link up with Osimhen

Reports suggest Griezmann is open to a move that would offer him more consistent playing time, a factor Galatasaray see as a key opportunity.

While no official negotiations have been confirmed, sources indicate the club is closely monitoring developments and could act quickly if the player signals interest in a transfer.

A potential partnership between Griezmann and Osimhen would give Galatasaray a formidable attacking blend of intelligence, creativity, and physical presence. The Frenchman’s experience and vision could complement Osimhen’s directness and goal threat, significantly boosting the club’s European ambitions.

Galatasaray have also been linked with high-profile names such as Mohamed Salah and Ademola Lookman, but Griezmann currently stands out as a realistic and impactful option.

As league leaders and Champions League contenders, the Turkish giants appear determined to strengthen decisively in January.
