Galatasaray make move to link Osimhen with Super Eagles star Lookman in January
After an unsuccessful attempt to sign the attacker during the summer, Galatasaray has re-established contact with Lookman's representatives.
The winger was close to leaving Italy this summer, with Inter Milan looking like his next destination.
However, they failed to meet Atalanta’s offer for the Super Eagles star and had to withdraw their interest from the transfer.
Lookman could link up with Osimhen
According to reports from Turkish outlet Fanatik, Lookman remains a top target for Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, who was eager to bring him to Istanbul before the previous deal fell through.
The club is now formulating a formal offer to test Atalanta's resolve once more. This move follows Galatasaray's high-profile loan signing of Victor Osimhen from Napoli last season, and the Istanbul giants are keen to pull off another significant transfer coup.
Lookman, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, attracted widespread interest over the summer due to his consistent performances and versatility.
However, his summer move to Inter failed to materialise. Lookman had reportedly requested to leave Atalanta and even agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract with the Milan club.
However, Atalanta CEO Antonio Percassi was unwilling to sell a key player to a direct Serie A competitor, informing Lookman that only a move abroad would be considered.
Atalanta ultimately rejected Inter's €45 million bid, forcing the Nerazzurri to pursue other targets.
