Paris Olympics triple gold medallist Gabby Thomas has found herself in an unfamiliar situation with Lausanne Diamond League event organisers.

The American sprint queen was provisionally listed to race in the women's 200m event alongside fierce rivals Julien Alfred, Shericka Jackson, and Dina Asher-Smith in Lausanne. Surprisingly, she had to debunk the news, calling out the event orgainisers for not officially confirming her availability before making it public.

A popular X track and field account @TrackGazzette, tweeted the entry list of the women's 200m event, to which Thomas will then quote: "This is news to me! Maybe I’ll change my training plan and go race."

Responding to a comment asking "How is it news to you when you on the list?" Thomas said: "They asked me to come, but I haven’t confirmed (in fact I said no). I just don’t like news coming out without my confirmation because if I “pull out” it looks bad on me. So now I feel like I have to go lol."

Her rebuttal was surprising considering the Lausanne Diamond League event organisers earlier released a press announcement, stating the number of sprint stars expected to be at the meet.

"Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, and Gabrielle Thomas have also signed to compete at Athletissima on August 20. The organizers of the meeting, present during the weekend at the American Trials in Eugene, took advantage of the trip to sign several stars who will light up the meeting on August 20 in Lausanne, particularly in the sprint.

"The women's 200m will bring together Olympic champion Gabrielle "Gabby" Thomas (USA), Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, Jamaican Shericka Jackson, the second fastest woman in history, and of course, as already announced, Olympic 100m champion  Julien Alfred  (St. Lucia)," read the statement.

Thomas, who narrowly edged herself to finish third at the US trials and make the individual team for the World Championships in Tokyo, has been off her best in the past month.

She'll later reveal in her post-race interview her struggles with a foot injury throughout the season and only resumed full training a week before the trials.

The famous track queen will be gunning to be back in her best form in September, aiming to win her first world 200m title in Tokyo.
