Fulham 1-0 Sunderland: Super Eagles trio Iwobi, Chukwueze and Bassey get revenge against DR Congo Sadiki

Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze played key roles as Fulham earned a narrow 1-0 victory over Sunderland, featuring DR Congo midfielder Noah Sadiki, in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.

The match proved a sweet revenge for Iwobi and Bassey, who had faced disappointment during the recent World Cup Qualifier Playoff against DR Congo but bounced back strongly for their club.

The Nigerians featured prominently, with Bassey playing the full 90 minutes and Iwobi lasting 89 minutes before being substituted.

The decisive moment came late in the 84th minute when Chukwueze, coming off the bench, delivered a sublime cross from the left flank into the six-yard box. 

Raul Jimenez expertly directed the ball past Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs to secure all three points for Fulham. The precise assist by Chukwueze highlighted his growing influence since joining the club.

This victory marks back-to-back home wins for Fulham and halts Sunderland’s unbeaten run at four matches. The result lifts Fulham to 14th in the league table, providing much-needed momentum for Kevin Nolan’s squad.

For Sunderland, the defeat is a setback, and Sadiki’s influence in midfield couldn’t prevent the loss despite his efforts.

The Nigerian trio’s impactful performances show a promising bounce-back from international disappointment and emphasise their importance to Fulham’s aspirations in the Premier League this season.

Fulham now look to build on this victory as they aim to climb further up the table, with their Nigerian stars delivering pride both domestically and on the international stage.
