From Rejection to Regret? AC Milan to pay dearly after missing out on Boniface
Days after AC Milan dramatically called off Victor Boniface’s transfer, the Serie A giants are now frustrated with their alternative target Conrad Harder.
Reports suggest Boniface’s proposed move collapsed after a failed medical, a twist that ignited a storm of reactions online.
However, Rossoneri are discovering that landing Harder is proving anything but straightforward.
What's the gossip?
Sporting and AC Milan reached an agreement on Sunday for the transfer of Conrad Harder from Alvalade to the San Siro, as reported by Football Italia.
The Italian club committed to paying €23 million plus €3 million in add-ons, but the deal will only be finalized once the Lions secure a replacement for the Danish striker.
The delay in finding a successor, coupled with new demands from Harder's agent to the Rossoneri, is now jeopardizing the move.
Before Milan entered the picture, Harder was close to joining Rennes.
He had agreed to a five-year contract, and the French club had also met Sporting's asking price.
However, just as with Milan now, agent Ibrahim Tasci began making significant financial demands, which pushed Rennes into the background as they started exploring other options.
Headache for Milan as Agent demands complicate Harder deal
AC Milan believed they had won the race for Harder, who is waiting for the green light from Sporting to travel to Milan—a move contingent on the signing of a replacement, be it Ioannidis or another forward.
However, the ongoing delay and the agent's new demands, which differ from the initial agreement, are causing the Rossoneri to reconsider their position and potentially look at other targets.
The deal hasn't collapsed, but Sporting must expedite the situation with Ioannidis — their offer stands at €20 million (€18m + €2m), while Panathinaikos wants €22 million, with the main obstacle being the percentage of the player's rights to be transferred — or find another striker.
Otherwise, Milan could walk away from the table, which might even reopen the door for Rennes.
On Sporting's side, one thing is certain: the club will not make any rash decisions.
If a suitable replacement isn't found, Conrad Harder will stay.
