AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani has spoken out after Saturday’s goalless draw against Kenya Police in the KPL match at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The match was defined by the outstanding performances of both goalkeepers, Humphrey Katasi and Job Ochieng, who repeatedly made crucial saves.

Despite early pressure from AFC Leopards and a late goal-line clearance by Kenya Police's David Cheche, neither side could find the decisive breakthrough.

The valuable point allowed Kenya Police FC to climb to the top of the league table, while AFC Leopards maintained their hunt for a strong finish.

Fred Ambani expressed his gratitude that the team had completed the match against Kenya Police without any injuries, adding that the opponents were fortunate to leave with a point, given the numerous opportunities his side created throughout the game.

The AFC Leopards coach highlighted the players’ commitment and determination, praising them for maintaining their intensity and pushing until the final whistle.

Fred Ambani also pointed out that the performance represented a significant step forward for the squad, demonstrating clear improvement compared to previous outings, specifically in their win against Gor Mahia.

He emphasised that the team possesses strong quality and depth, and that the platform could be used to build greater consistency in the coming matches.

The coach further expressed confidence in the squad’s potential, suggesting that with continued effort, they could emerge as serious contenders for the league title.

“I’m grateful that we have finished the match with no injuries. Kenya Police FC are very lucky to come out with a point because if you look at how we played, we had many chances. The boys have played well and pushed until the last minute,” he told Azam TV.

“It's a great improvement for the team. We have a great team, and we can build on that. We have a team that will challenge the title.”

Fred Ambani singled out Humphrey Katasi for his impressive performance, noting that the goalkeeper is improving game by game and providing a major boost to the team.

He praised the keeper for making crucial saves at key moments, saying his contributions have been instrumental in keeping the squad in contention and maintaining their confidence throughout the match.

“Katasi is doing a great job, and he is improving game by game, and it’s a plus to the team. He is helping us a lot and has made crucial saves,” he added.
