After defeating Junior Mena of the Niger Republic 3-1 in Lome, the Nigerian Flying Eagles advanced to the 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship final on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

In the second semi-final at the Stade Kegue, Niger Republic took the lead after just nine minutes, but the seven-time African champions were unfazed, just as they were against Cote d'Ivoire on Thursday.

The Flying Eagles responded and went on to dominate, scoring three goals to get to the Final.

Clinton Jephta's goal from outside the box put the Flying Eagles level in the 35th minute.

Thirteen minutes after the restart, Jephta scored again giving Nigeria the lead for the first time.

Olalekan Alonge scored the Flying Eagles' third goal in additional time to seal the win.

The outcome guarantees the Flying Eagles a spot in the Africa U20 Cup of Nations the following year.

They will also face West African bitter rivals Ghana in the WAFU B tournament final after they defeated Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 in the other semifinal.
