Florian Wirtz addresses rumours he asked for #10 to join Liverpool
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz has come out to refute the allegations that he demanded the number 10 jersey as a condition to sign for Liverpool.
What happened
As Pulse Sports reported, Liverpool are still in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz, but there is a clear indication they are leading the race; hence, they have already begun talks with the player.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, one of Wirtz’s demands during negotiations was to be given the number 10 kit number he currently wears for Leverkusen. However, the number is already occupied in the squad by Alexis MacAlister.
Wirtz dispels rumours
With Liverpool still in negotiations with Die Werkself, having seen two bids rejected, Wirtz remains keen on the move, and he has quickly come out to rubbish the claims that he wanted MacAlister’s number.
“Who says I want the 10?” he shared via his Instagram story. “I respect players. Don't believe everything what's written.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool have completed the signing of Wirtz Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who joins the club as a replacement for Real Madrid’s most recent Galactico, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
