Final in sight for Nkumba as they edge Kampala University in the first leg

Nkumba University have began having a real sniff at the final of the 2023/24 Pepsi University Football League.

This comes after they smiled to a comfortable 1-0 semifinal victory over Kampala University in the first leg played at the Luzira Prison Grounds on Tuesday.

Kampala University's defender Tony Ndase scored past his goalkeeper Brian Ozelle to hand Nkumba University victory on the evening.

Having won on enemy territory, Nkumba will be home in Entebbe next week, with massive hopes of wrapping up the tie.

Following the victory, Nkumba's head coach Sulaiman Bbosa hailed the unity and togetherness in his team.

“I want to thank the players for the brave display in this victory over Kampala University," Bbosa told the press.

"They played collectively as one unit. We are now preparing for the second leg that will be at our home in Nkumba."

Meanwhile, in the first semifinal, Uganda Christian University (UCU) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) were locked in a one-all stalemate in Nakawa.
