A former US sprinter has sensationally claimed that he has evidence of widespread doping among American sprinters which he will soon make public.

The US Track and Field is also grappling with its own cases of doping with sprinters Marvin Bracy-Williams, Fred Kerley and Erriyon Knighton among the big names serving various bans over drug use.

Now, ex-elite sprinter Monzavous “Rae” Edwards, who is reported to have good information on how Bracy-Williams got into doping, says it is not just the 2022 world 100m silver medalist but many big names in world sprinting are being fueled by prohibited performance-enhancing substances.

“Everyone in track and field knows that I know who the person was supplying these people,” Edwards told the Guardian.

American Drug Dealer Set to Appear in Court

“When me and Marv [Bracy-Williams] were on the phone I cracked a joke. I was like: ‘I’ll get it, man.’ He was laughing like: ‘Give it to me, dog!’ It was literally a joke at first and next thing I know, it’s no longer a joke. By which I mean Marvin was like: ‘I’m going to try it.’ I take the responsibility for it … because it was a joke that I put in his head and I also gave him the loaded weapon…”

The Guardian reports that Edwards was the man with the contact of the dealer, a woman, who worked for alleged steroid guru, Paul Askew, who has since been charged in Florida with conspiracy to influence major international sport competition through doping. Askew has not taken a plea yet but will appear in court on February 18.

Edwards defends Bracy-Williams, claiming the 32-year-old was left with little choice upon learning that those currently winning gold medals were doping and getting away with and so he thought it would be the same for him as he sought a first major title of his career.

“Marv didn’t want to take drugs. Marv took drugs because he felt like he had to,” Edwards further claimed. “The thing that I don’t like about our sport is that if you don’t take it, you don’t make it. When you have people who are taking it and you know they’re making it, then you’re almost leaving Marv without an option.”

Bracy-Williams tested positive for testosterone in February 2024 and it is believed an insider tipped US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) officials who nabbed him when he had just taken the banned substance.

The drug-dealing network in the US is believed to be large and while USADA officials have been trying to crack down on the culprits, Edwards claims he has evidence and is still gathering more which he will unleash to the public at the right time.

“I was gathering all this information [and] when I get enough information, I’m going to burn the whole of track and field down,” said Edwards.

It remains to be seen what Edwards has but from the Bracy-Williams case, it appears more names could go down due to doping.
