Ex-Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo goes spiritual after first goal in 2025

Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has expressed a deep sense of spirituality following his first goal of 2025, which came during a crucial match for his Saudi Arabian club, Al-Wehda. 

The 35-year-old forward played an important role in leading his team to a much-needed 2-1 victory against Al Fateh on Thursday night, marking their first win of the year.

Ighalo's goal, scored in a blistering first-half performance, provided Al-Wehda with a vital lead heading into halftime. 

Despite Al Fateh pulling one back shortly after the break, the Nigerian's contribution proved decisive as his team held on for the win. 

This goal was particularly significant for Ighalo, as it was his fourth of the season amidst a challenging campaign for the club, which now sits just two points above the relegation zone after the victory.

Following the match, Ighalo took to social media to reflect on the experience. He shared an uplifting message on Instagram, stating;

With this victory, the third win in 14 matches this season, Al-Wehda have moved out of the relegation zone, breathing new life into their season as they aim to build momentum in the Saudi Pro League.

Wehda will be hoping that Ighalo will continue with his positive start to the new year and rediscover some of the form that saw him score 16 goals last season for the club.
