Real Madrid legend Raphael Varane has signed for Italian Serie A newbies Como and he expressed his excitement following the completion of the deal.

The 31-year-old was on the books of Manchester United over the past three seasons since joining from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021. His stint at Manchester United was marred by injuries, and after the expiration of his three-year deal, he left the club. He is now set to begin a new phase of his career in Serie A.

What Varane said 

Despite playing in the Italian second division last season, Como has enjoyed mainstream attention due to the status of their coach, Cesc Fabregas.

They completed the deal today and announced it to their fans across their official platforms.

Varane reacted to Como’s post unveiling him as a new signing, saying, “I'm super excited, incredibly proud and can't wait for get started,” underscoring his keenness to join I Lariani. Varane signed a two-year contract with Como with an option to extend for a further year. 

The French-Martiniquais defender has had an illustrious career so far. He has 93 caps for France and is a world champion. He has won 22 trophies so far in his career, 18 of which came in his 10 seasons at Real Madrid.
