Costly Error — Enyimba explain embarrassing photo of player with handwritten number

As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, Enyimba’a Gabriel Innocent was spotted with his handwritten Jersey during their clash against Wydad in the Africa Football League, AFL, on Sunday.

The two giants went head-to-head in the quarterfinal first leg tie of the newly formed African Football League.
Nigeria’s Enyimba hosted the encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State but fell 1-0 to their visitors from Morocco.
However, the one billion Naira battle was overshadowed by a picture of one of Enyimba’s players who was spotted wearing a jersey with a handwritten number.
The picture of the player, Innocent, went viral on social media, with the club now forced to offer an explanation for what transpired.

According to a post from popular photojournalist, OgaNla Media on X.com, it was a costly mistake from the club secretary.
“During the registration with CAF, he (Innocent) was registered as number 3 jersey instead of number 5,” the post stated.
“It was a costly error from the Team Secretary. They found out when the match was about to start, and there was no way CAF would allow him to play with the number he wasn't registered with,” Enyimba reportedly added.
Innocent and Enyimba have since departed the country for the all-important second leg slated for this midweek.
The People’s Elephant will be hoping to turn things around when they take on Wydad Casablanca for a place in the last four of the lucrative competition.
