Edo Queens thrash Ethiopian club in Champions League debut

Edo Queens, Nigeria and West African B representative in the CAF Women's Champions League kicked off their campaign with a resounding 3-0 victory over CBE of Ethiopia.

Goals from Emem Essien, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Chukwuamaka Osigwe secured the win for the Nigerian champions.

Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions have a guaranteed participation fee of $150,000 (over 250 million naira) and can earn additional funds as they advance in the competition.

Eventual winners will receive $600,000, (a trillion naira), the runners-up will get $400,000, and third place will smile to the bank with $350,000, along with other monetary incentives.

Each of the eight African women's football clubs participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2024 will receive a minimum of USD 150,000 in prize money.
