Edo Man Deontay Wilder returns against Tyrrell Herndon
Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is set to make his return to the ring on June 27, 2025.
The Bronze Bomber will be facing Tyrrell Herndon in a 10-round bout in Wichita, Kansas.
The fight, announced by promoters Global Combat Collective comes after a difficult period for Wilder, who is looking to rebound following back-to-back losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.
The 39-year-old aims to reassert himself in the heavyweight division and prove he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level and possibly reignite talks with
In December 2023, Wilder suffered a unanimous decision loss to Joseph Parker in Riyadh.
That setback was followed by a fifth-round knockout loss to Zhilei Zhang in June 2024, also in Riyadh.
Wilder is determined to rediscover the form that saw him reign as WBC heavyweight champion from 2015 to 2020.
His opponent, Tyrrell Herndon, is a 37-year-old journeyman from San Antonio, Texas, with a professional record of 24-5-0, including 15 knockouts.
Herndon comes into the fight on a three-fight win streak, his most recent being a split decision victory over Rudy Silvas in May 2024.
For Wilder, it’s a chance to silence critics after his losses to Parker and Zhang and prove he still belongs among the elite.
