Dwarf entertainer invited to Yamal's party defends Barcelona star following discrimination allegations
A dwarf entertainer has come to the defence of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal after Spain's Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Bone Dysplasias (ADEE) accused the 18-year-old of discrimination.
Yamal's birthday party
Lamine Yamal had his birthday party on July 12, and many details from the event have been permeating the internet.
Celebrity Latin popstars were in attendance, as well as some present and past footballers. The dress code of the party was said to be Mafia-themed, and dwarf entertainers were also invited.
ADEE were sprung by the revelation that entertainers with dwarfism were used at the birthday party and released a statement, vowing to take legal action against the party organisers.
They said the action was “intolerable because it perpetuates stereotypes, fuels discrimination, and undermines the image and rights of those with achondroplasia or other skeletal dysplasia, as well as all people with disabilities.”
Yamal defended
One of the individuals with dwarfism in attendance allegedly came to the defence of the teenager, RAC 1 reported, per Athlon Sports. He insisted that they were treated with respect and were not harmed during the job.
"No one disrespected us; let us work in peace,” he said. “I don't understand why there's so much hype. We're normal people who do what we want in an absolutely legal way.
"(ADEE) is humiliating people with dwarfism. For a couple of years now, these people have been harming us; they want to ban a job that we like, and in no case have they offered jobs or courses to the affected people. We work as entertainers. Why can't we do it? Because of our physical condition?
"There is a new president who feels self-conscious and wants to screw us others. We know what our limit is and we will never exceed it: we are not fairground monkeys. We dance, we distribute drinks, we do magic ... there are many types of shows."
