Djibouti 0-3 Egypt: Mohamed Salah sends Pharaohs to 2026 FIFA World Cup
The Pharaohs of Egypt secured their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a resounding 3-0 victory over Djibouti in their ninth group game on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Leading the charge was Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, whose brace propelled Egypt to the top of their qualification group.

The game kicked off with an explosive start, as Ibrahim Adel opened the scoring in the 8th minute with an assist from winger Zizo to give Egypt an early lead.
Just six minutes later, in the 14th minute, Mohamed Salah doubled the advantage with a clinical finish, set up by Trezeguet’s pass.
In the second half, the Liverpool star sealed his brace and the victory in the 84th minute, latching onto an assist from Marwan Ateya to slot home the third goal.
Salah's performance was the highlight of the night, with his two goals bringing his tally to five in the qualification phase.
The victory was further cemented by a 1-0 win for Burkina Faso over Sierra Leone in the other Group A match confirmed Egypt's qualification with one game to spare with an unassailable lead at the top of the group.
The victory away marked Egypt's fourth qualification for the global tournament, following their appearances in 1934, 1990, and 2018.
