Dessers in trouble - Super Eagles star places Osimhen outside of his top five ranking of Nigerian players
Dessers was included in Nigeria's final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, set to take place in Morocco.
The Rangers forward will compete with the likes of Akor Adams, Paul Onuachu, Osimhen and others in attack at the tournament.
With players arriving at the camp in preparation for AFCON, Dessers was asked to rank Nigerian players.
Dessers places Osimhen in eight
In an interview shared by Bet9ja, the home of #betBOOM! On X, Dessers revealed his top seven ranking by placing Finidi George in the number three position, Vincent Enyeama in five, Jay Jay Okocha in four and Stephen Keshi in six.
When faced with placing Osimhen in the top seven, he said, “He still has a long time to go; the other guys, they retired already, so I will put him in eight because he deserves one.”

Osimhen has been the best player for the Super Eagles in the last couple of years and is set to lead the line at the African Cup of Nations.
The Galatasaray star is currently Nigeria’s second-highest goalscorer in history, with 31 goals, behind Rashidi Yekini, with 37 goals.
He is just six goals behind the legend, who had the record in 62 caps for the National team, while Osimhen is on 45 caps.
Osimhen will be looking to help Nigeria win the AFCON, who are grouped with Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda in Group C, with the kick-off of the tournament on December 21, 2025.
