Denver Nuggets coach David Adelman reiterated his high regard for Jonas Valančiūnas following the completion of his move.
Adelman has emphasized the significant role he has planned for him in the upcoming season.
Adelman on Valančiūnas
Despite rumors linking him with Panathinaikos, the Nuggets appear confident that the Lithuanian center will remain in the NBA.
Although Valančiūnas himself hasn't publicly commented, the Denver organisation considers him part of the team.
Adelman in a recent report has now stressed that Valančiūnas won't simply be Jokic's backup.
He said, "As I've said before, DeMarcus Cousins was invaluable to us.
"When Nikola (Jokic) isn't playing, we need a reliable center in the starting lineup.
"We're very fortunate to have Valančiūnas for that role. We're looking forward to his arrival in Denver."
Valančiūnas, who joined from the Sacramento Kings, is yet to comment on his future.
He is expected to lead Lithuanian basketball at the upcoming Eurobasket.
