'Dangerous' Chelsea star praised by England boss Tuchel after fine performance

Starting on the right flank before switching to the left after substitutions in the second half, the 23-year-old provided the assist for the game’s only goal.

Reflecting on the performance, Tuchel said, “He was maybe throughout the match the most dangerous, the most active.

"I could feel his hunger and the desire and determination to do the plan. He was one of the few who met the expectations.”

Madueke’s display strengthened his case for a spot in the Three Lions’ squad for the 2026 World Cup, provided they secure qualification.

Their qualification campaign has started well, despite the low level of Saturday’s performance, as three wins from three games means they are top of Group K with five matches still to play.
