What Maresca said

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the player will return to the club for pre-season training but acknowledged the ongoing discussions regarding his future.

The only thing I can say is I know he is in contact with the club to find a solution,” said the head coach.

When pressed on Gallagher's possible return to the first-team, Maresca said: “At the moment, there is not any update on that.

“In football, every summer, different clubs have some problems with some players and then at the end, they find a solution and everyone is happy. Hopefully the same can happen in this situation.”

What comes next?

With the transfer window still open, the situation surrounding Gallagher remains fluid, as Chelsea seek a resolution that benefits both the club and the player.

The West London club are on Tour in the United States, where they have played Wrexham, Celtic and Club America. The Blues face Manchester City on Saturday (today) in their fourth match of the off-season.
