Sichenje emerged as a major target for the club during the January transfer window and he sealed the deal on deadline day for an undisclosed fee from Serbian side FK Vojvodina.

The 22-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club revealing that they signed the Kenyan defender earlier as he had been a summer target after monitoring him for long.

"He's a player we've been tracking for a long time and was originally budgeted to join us this summer as part of our multi-window strategy to move the club forward," said Charlton managing director James Rodwell.

"We're pleased that the opportunity arose for him to join us earlier than we expected and are grateful to the ownership for their support in enabling us to bring him to the football club at this stage."

Sichenje Thrilled With Transfer

It is a major step for the former AFC Leopards defender who also had stints in Greece and Finland before moving to Serbia in 2024.

"It's a big step for my career. It's a good opportunity to keep working, developing and help the team, so I just need to be humble and keep working - that's the goal," said Sichenje.

Sichenje is Charlton's seventh signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of Harry Clarke, Lyndon Dykes, Luke Chambers, Tiernan Brooks, Jayden Fevrier and Conor Coady.

Charlton are 18th in the 24-team English second tier and will be hoping that Sichenje helps them climb up the table.
