Club World Cup winners clearing house - Chelsea puts half the squad up for sale
Chelsea has been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market, spending over €234 million on seven new players.
And they may not be done yet, with reported interest in Jorrel Hato, Xavi Simons, and Alejandro Garnacho.
Xavi Simons is heavily pushing for the Chelsea move after deciding to skip a training session with Leipzig.
Chelsea's transfer list
Beyond the incoming players, the Blues also need to address departures. Manager Enzo Maresca has reportedly put nearly half the squad on the transfer list, as reported by Abola.
Among those deemed surplus to requirements by the Club World Cup winners are defenders Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile. Both cost €45 million but are now valued at half that price.
Portuguese international Renato Veiga has returned from his loan spell at Juventus and is still not in the manager's plans. Chelsea is asking for €40 million for the center-back, who has been linked with Atlético Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Young players lacking game time, such as Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu, Harvey Vale, Charlie Webster, Omari Hutchinson, Lewis Hall and Cesare Casadei are also likely to leave.
Marc Guiu, formerly of Barcelona, is expected to continue his career at newly promoted Premier League side Sunderland. Several other academy players are also facing uncertain futures.
The door is also open for Christopher Nkunku, who has attracted interest from several clubs, with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan leading the race for the former Leipzig player, who cost Chelsea around €60 million.
Armando Broja, who has a market in Italy, David Fofana, and Raheem Sterling, linked with Napoli, are not in Enzo Maresca's plans, nor is Nicolas Jackson, who has lost his place with the arrivals of João Pedro and Angelo Gabriel.
