Christantus Uche: 'It hurts when you go through something that k*lls you inside' — Super Eagles star laments
Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has taken to social media to express his frustration over his situation at Crystal Palace, stating that he was going through a tough time.
Uche's struggles at Palace
The 22-year-old joined Palace last summer on a season-long loan from Getafe that carries a conditional obligation to buy for £17 million if he makes 10 Premier League starts this campaign.
The move has not gone to plan, as he has only managed 67 minutes of playing time (five substitute appearances across competitions) since his arrival.
With the Nigerian barely featuring in Oliver Glasner's plans, the Eagles are already weighing the possibility of cutting the loan short in January rather than activating the mandatory purchase.
“It hurts when you go through something that kills you inside but you have to act like it doesn’t bother you at all. Keep believing & faith in all things you do,” he shared on Instagram.
Uche's AFCON chances in jeopardy
The lack of minutes has immediate international consequences for the Imo State native. While Uche was included in Eric Chelle’s 54-man preliminary Super Eagles list for AFCON 2025, his bench role risks him being left off the final tournament squad.
It already had an impact recently when he was left out of the playoff squad. And while he was used in replacing injured players in the squad, he did not score a single minute.
