The hosts started strong, with Fredrik Aursnes missing two clear opportunities before Richard Ríos opened the scoring midway through the first half, poking home a knockdown following a lofted cross.

Napoli offered little threat in the first half, and changes made by manager Conte at the interval failed to spark a comeback.

Benfica doubled their lead five minutes into the second half with a spectacular team move stemming from a cleared corner, finished off by a sublime backheel flick from Leandro Barreiro.

Napoli finally tested Benfica's Anatoliy Trubin in the 71st minute via David Neres, but they never truly looked like pulling a goal back.

Benfica comfortably saw out the win, claiming their second victory of the UCL League Phase.

Despite the win, the Portuguese outfit remain one point shy of the play-off places, while Napoli sits in 23rd place.
