In what turned out to be one of the most tightly contested editions of the NWFL Super Six, Bayelsa Queens rose above fierce competition from three other title hopefuls, Nasarawa Amazons, Edo Queens, and debutants Remo Stars Ladies, to claim their sixth league crown.

Dubbed the Prosperity Girls, Bayelsa Queens showcased ruthless efficiency, powered by a hat-trick from Vera Samuel, who found the net in the 28th, 61st, and 67th minutes.

Mega Cynthia added to the scoreline shortly after halftime, while Tumininu Adeshina briefly restored parity for Naija Ratels in the 42nd minute, only for her side to be outclassed by Bayelsa’s quality in the second half.

The win ensured Bayelsa Queens topped the Super Six standings with 10 points, edging out Nasarawa Amazons (9 points) and Edo Queens (8 points) in a tense finale that kept fans and neutrals guessing until the last match.

Rivers Angels edged Remo Stars on goal difference to finish fourth, while Naija Ratels endured a disappointing campaign, finishing without a point.

Bayelsa Queens earned a ₦10 million prize for their win, while Nasarawa Amazons and Edo Queens took home ₦6 million and ₦4 million, respectively.

The remaining three clubs, Rivers Angels, Remo Stars Ladies, and Naija Ratels, each received ₦1.5 million, an increase from previous seasons, reflecting the NWFL’s effort to support all participating teams.

The trophy ceremony was graced by Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, alongside NWFL board members, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports, and Daniel Igali, President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation. Kunle Soname, chairman of Remo Stars and host of the Super Six, also participated.

Bayelsa Queens will now turn their focus to continental duties, representing Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in Côte d’Ivoire. A strong showing could earn them a spot at the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club Championship.
