Laliga matchday 17 clash between Barcelona and Villareal could be played in Miami as it would be the first league match ever held outside of Spain.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas's idea to host a league match in the United States is close to becoming a reality.
According to Spanish media, the Barcelona vs. Villarreal match, scheduled for December 20th as part of LaLiga's 17th round, could be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The matter will be discussed on Monday by Spanish football's top officials. If approved, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will begin the legal process to request permission for the game to be played outside of Spain.
FIFA recently approved the possibility of league matches being held outside the country of the respective league.
To take the Barcelona-Villarreal game to Miami, approval is still needed from UEFA, CONCACAF, and FIFA.
Recent editions of the Spanish Super Cup have also been played abroad, specifically in Saudi Arabia.
