Barcelona were ruthless and efficient, as they made light work of the Supercopa de Espana semi-final against Athletic Club, beating them 5–0 to advance.

Barcelona struck early and often to seize control. In the 22nd minute, Ferran Torres finished clinically from close range to open the scoring. Just eight minutes later, FermÃn López doubled the lead with a composed finish after a slick attacking move, putting Barça firmly in command.
The goals kept coming. Roony Bardaghji made it 3–0 in the 34th minute with a well-taken strike, and Raphinha added Barcelona’s fourth just before half-time, leaving Athletic reeling as the defending champions took a commanding lead into the interval.
The Basques struggled to cope with Barcelona’s fluid attacking patterns or quick transitions throughout the first 45, and that story remained the same at the start of the second half.
Early into resumption, Raphinha completed his brace, rifling the ball into the net. After that, Barcelona managed the game comfortably, subbing fresh legs on and controlling possession, while Athletic, unable to respond, saw out the second half in respectful defeat.
