His performance for Barcelona this season has cemented his place as one of the next midfielders in the world. However, in different circumstances, he could have already left the club, as Bayern were intently interested when Barcelona struggled with their finances, but Pedri opted to stay.

“They were interested in me, but my love for Barcelona was unconditional,” Pedri said, per Dario AS. “It’s the club of my dreams, and it will be very difficult to leave there.”

Pedri opened the scoring in the thrilling El Clasico.

Ahead of the game, the former Las Palmas star was asked to compare former Spanish national team coach Luis Enrique to the current gaffer, Luis de la Fuente, and he had the following to say: “They are two different coaches.”

“De la Fuente always bet on me from the youth ranks and Luis Enrique is also spectacular and made me debut with Spain. I don’t choose; it’s like choosing between Dad and Mom.”
