Barcelona legend Gerard Pique bank accounts under investigation in Rubiales, Saudi-related corruption scandal

Spanish police have turned their attention to former Barcelona player Gerard Pique's bank accounts as part of a probe related to a corruption scandal involving Luis Rubiales.

The investigation stems from ties between Pique's sports entertainment company, Kosmos, and Rubiales, the former Spanish FA president embroiled in controversy.

According to reports from AS, Spanish authorities are scrutinizing Gerard Pique's bank accounts with a specific focus on the connection between Kosmos, a company owned by the footballer, and Luis Rubiales.

Rubiales, who was recently arrested and subsequently released upon his return to Spain, is at the centre of a judicial inquiry into the controversial decision to host the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

A representative from Kosmos has stated that no employee of the company has been taken into custody or placed under investigation, and no searches have been conducted on the premises.

Kosmos, established by Pique, gained recognition primarily through its association with the Davis Cup, marking a significant partnership that spanned from 2018 to 2023 despite the original agreement set for 25 years.
